NHLBI or National Heart Lung and Blood Institute Part of the federal National Institutes of Health (NIH); NHLBI provides leadership for a national program in diseases of the heart blood vessels lung (including asthma) and blood; blood resources; and sleep disorders. It conducts and funds research and educational activities including the development and distribution of materials with an emphasis on prevention.
