This report provides an in depth review of asthma hospitalizations in Michigan, highlighting the disparities and trends. Asthma hospitalizations involve extremely severe asthma events that increase the risk of asthma mortality, and are considered preventable.

Annual Report on Asthma Deaths – 2002 to 2007

This is a joint report of the Michigan State University Department of Medicine and the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services Bureau of Epidemiology. Although the number of deaths is not large, the circumstances surrounding these deaths are dramatic. The deaths are particularly tragic because they are preventable.

Asthma Prevalence, Severity, and Management for Michigan Adults – 2005
This report was prepared by the epidemiology staff of AIM and the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System in the Bureau of Epidemiology at the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services. Its development was supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Using data from the Michigan Behavioral Risk Factor Survey, this brief statistical report describes the prevalence of asthma, symptoms, quality of life, and indicators of disease severity and management for adults in Michigan.
