Zafirlukast
Description
Stops the actions of substances that cause airways to squeeze, narrowing the airways, as well as other factors that contribute to asthma
Dosage
Adults and children more than 12 years old take 20mg twice a day.
Children 5 to 11 years old take 10 mg twice daily.
Available in 10 mg and 20 mg tablets.
Precautions
Doses of zafirlukast should be decreased if there is liver impairment or if the patient is greater than 65 years old. Concomitant warfarin therapy.
Side Effects
Headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, gastritis, elevations in liver enzymes, and infection.
Proper Use
Take on empty stomach, at least one hour before or two hours after meals.

Aspirin, erythromycin, theophylline, warfarin
Proper Storage
Store at room temperature. Protect from light and moisture. Dispense in the original airtight container.
